LGBTQ Inclusive Education

Our accredited education training programme is now available for your schools. Available for both Primary and Secondary phases, our programme consists of 5 parts:

  • LGB in the Classroom - A focus on the issues and barriers facing LGB young people in education. Being able to                                                understand the challenges is the first step in removing the challenge, allowing LGB                                                      young people to thrive in their learning.
  • T in the Classroom - A focus on the issues and barriers facing trans young people in education. With a more                                               nuanced look at the separate issues facing gender nonconforming young people, being able                                       to understand the challenges is the first step in removing the challenge, allowing trans                                               young people to thrive in their learning.
  • Working the curriculum - With separate sessions designed for Primary and Secondary phases, we look at ways                                                   to allow LGBTQ visibility to come through in your curriculum, without having to go                                                     back to the drawing board. Focusing more on effective use of resources and                                                                   references over planning whole lessons, we provide the tools to look at your own                                                         curriculum and assess where and how to make LGBTQ visibility a priority. These skills                                                 are also applicable to including other equality strands.
  • Supporting LGBTQ young people - Building the skills and approaches needed to provide the support mechanisms for LGBTQ young people in your settings.
  • Making it Holistic: The whole school approach - A workshopped session looking at how to apply the learning from the previous training to a coordinated whole school approach. Providing tools and support to take the work from a classroom and student focus, to a holistic, school wide view looking at what can be done outside of the classroom to create the inclusive environment all students need.
This training is available as 5 x 1 hour sessions and can be delivered online if required.
